Outcome summary[ | ]

This event is purely dialogue and flavor. No choices lead to any reward or loss.

Start[ | ]

The Samaritan

An old man is outside the throne room with urgent news about the Cadence! He's quickly let in, but when he stands before you he apologizes and sheepishly admits that he actually doesn't have any news. "I know you're really busy, I just... you've been working to help us for so long, I wanted to ask, how are you doing?"

  • "Fantastic! Thank you for asking."
  • "I'm alright, I guess."
  • "Well the Cadence is still out there so I can't say I'm too good."

"Fantastic! Thank you for asking."[ | ]

Good Vibes

He lets an enormous smile break free. "You're welcome! I'm so glad to hear that! I know you have your dark days every now and then, we all do, but it's so good to hear that you've been able to keep your spirits up. It's very comforting and..." His voice cracks as his eyes refocus on yours. "Thank you so much. For everything." He flashes one last smile and then he's off.

"I'm alright, I guess."[ | ]

The Samaritan

He lets a smile escape. "Not too good, not too bad. I understand. Can I do anything to help?"

  • "You already have."
  • "I don't know, can you?"
  • "Not really, but thank you."

Outcomes[ | ]

Each choice results in different dialogue, but nothing else happens.

"You already have."

Very Kind

He looks away for a moment and blushes. "Well, I'm glad then. I feel like we don't let you know often enough that we appreciate what you're doing. We do. It's an incredible burden and you're handling it remarkably well, at least in my opinion." He gives the throne room one last look before returning to meet your gaze again. "Thank you."

"I don't know, can you?"

An Honest Man

He laughs. "Not really. I was just trying to be polite." His face relaxes as he walks up and shakes your hand. "You're doing a great job here. A great job. Sometimes it might seem like we take you for granted, but that's only because some of us don't know what it was like before you came here. I do and I'm thankful for every day that you're with us." He gives your hand one last shake for emphasis. "Every day."

"Not really, but thank you."

Worth a Shot

He watches your eyes for a few seconds before responding. "Well if that ever changes, you can find me at the refugee camp outside of Fornton. I try to help out with the cooking." He turns to leave, but thinks better of it at the last second. "Everyone there... They've lost a lot, but they're grateful for what you're doing. And that you haven't given up yet."

"Well the Cadence is still out there so I can't say I'm too good."[ | ]

The Samaritan

He nods understandingly. "That's reasonable. Do you want to talk about it?"

  • "...Sure."
  • "Not really."

Outcomes[ | ]

Each choice results in different dialogue, but nothing else happens.

"...Sure."

Good Listener

You tell him about the stress of having an entire nation counting on you to save them, the pain of watching your friends and allies pass away, and the constant threat of uncertainty. He doesn't say much in return, only asking for clarification on certain things here and there. When you're done, he places a hand on your shoulder and you actually feel better. "We're all behind you."

"Not really."

Better Left Unsaid

He's almost able to hide his sigh. "Fair enough. Maybe I'll stop by again later." He reaches into his satchel and pulls out two apple pies. "For everything you've done. I wish I could've brought more, but these were all we could spare in the camp. You're... You've done more good than you know." He flashes one last smile and then he's off.
