The Lash is a random event where a hero is given a chance to participate in a twelve-year tournament.

Outcome summary[edit | edit source]

Choice Time Chance Outcome
Sending the hero 1 to 11 years 91.67% Lashed: Hero dies.
12 years 8.33% Lashed: Hero gains Lash Lord status and nickname, gains four levels, and white hair.
Sending no one none 100% What Could Have Been: No change.

Technically, there are twelve different outcomes named "Lashed." The only thing that distinguishes the first eleven is how long each takes and how the hero dies.

Note that the outcome of sending the hero to compete is only randomly selected if the hero's remaining lifespan is long enough to complete the tournament. Otherwise, which "Lashed" death outcome the hero gets is determined by the year of the tournament during which the hero would die naturally.

It is worth noting that any relic equipped by the hero will be lost if they fall in the tournament.[1]

Start[edit | edit source]

The Lash

A single red horse with a mute rider has arrived at the Capital which can only mean one thing: The Lash is open and accepting applicants. An extraordinarily dangerous and harrowing tournament, The Lash is a 12 year commitment with each year consisting of a different trial. hero name asks for permission to make this near-suicidal attempt.

  • Send hero name.
  • Not going to happen.

The hero is randomly selected from those in your retinue that do not already have the Lash Lord status.

Outcomes[edit | edit source]

There are twelve possible outcomes. If the hero's natural lifespan is to end during the tournament, the year in which that happens determines which of the eleven death outcomes occur. Otherwise, all outcomes are equally likely, though eleven of the twelve end in the hero's death. Each outcome takes one year longer than the previous outcome, as each "Lash" takes one year.
