Start[edit | edit source]

Marriage Counseling

partner name apologizes for waking you, but this matter couldn't wait. It seems the marriage to regent name hasn't been going too well recently and partner first name just doesn't see things working out for much longer. They're both in the Capital today for a briefing on region statuses. What do you do?

  • Talk with them.
  • Send hero name to talk with them.
  • Tell partner first name not to worry, that these things happen, and it'll all blow over.

The couple will be randomly chosen from those where both partners are fertile, and the hero in the second choice will be randomly selected from those without a Leg Injury. This event cannot trigger if there are no such couples or heroes available.

Talk with them[edit | edit source]

Outcomes[edit | edit source]

There are two possible outcomes, all equally likely.

Good Talk

The sit-down goes even better than you expected! It turns out that they were both just frustrated about being forced into this marriage. You understand, but speak eloquently about the importance of their duties, the gravity of the nation's situation, and how their union is one of the most important defenses we have in this war. By the end they're holding hands again and actually looking happy to be with one another. Perhaps you should start charging for this.

/VAR_1/ and /VAR_3/ have gained the Patriotic personality.

Stick With Ruling

You speak about how the nation needs them to stay together and everything they're doing is for the greater good, but today you aren't at your most eloquent so everything comes out as either cliché or pandering. Still, you manage well enough that they agree to stay married "for the people."

/VAR_1/ and /VAR_3/ have gained the Passionless personality.

Have a hero talk to them[edit | edit source]

Outcomes[edit | edit source]

There are four possible outcomes, all equally likely.

The Gift

hero first name reports back later that night looking very confused. "I don't know what it was I said, but at the end they both kissed me and then each other. Multiple times. Even after I left the room. That's what you wanted, right?"

hero name has gained the "Silktongue" nickname.

Smooth Talker

hero first name reports back later that night looking somewhat uncomfortable. "They're gonna be okay, but... I think I might've said too much. Probably. Especially when it came to the health benefits of physical communication."

regent name and partner name have gained the Insatiable personality and hero name has gained the \"Silktongue\" nickname.

Lost Cause

hero first name reports back later that night looking very worried. "Sorry. I did the best I could, but whatever happened to those two, it broke them beyond repair."

regent name and partner name have gained the Divorced status.

This also returns both the regent and partner to the retinue as the status prevents either from being a regent or marrying another hero.

Touchy Subject

hero first name stumbles into the throne room later that night with a black eye and a limp. "Opening with marriage jokes was a bad idea. Don't worry, they're gonna stick together, but please don't ever ask me to do this again."

hero name has gained the Leg Injury status.

Say it'll blow over[edit | edit source]

Outcomes[edit | edit source]

There are three possible outcomes. The "Domestic Troubles" outcome can only occur if the regent has a relic, in which case, all three outcomes are equally likely. If the regent does not have a relic, the "Assurances" outcome has a two in three chance of occurring and the "Dashed Hopes" outcome has a one in three chance.

Assurances

partner first name stares at you, perhaps trying to determine whether you actually believe any of that. "I hope you're right."

Nothing furthers happens in this outcome.

Domestic Troubles

partner first name nods wearily. "I guess we'll see, huh?" Later that day you hear the couple having what must have been one argument for five hours straight. Who knows what precipitated it, but the squabbling traveled through the entire western wing of the Capital and only ended when a Relic was destroyed. When you see them that night however, they're holding hands and laughing like old friends. Perhaps they should break Relics more often!

The Relic relic name has been destroyed.

Dashed Hopes

It doesn't blow over. In fact, the marriage was done before they had even set foot in the Capital. They were just hoping that after partner first name told you about their problems, you would directly, or indirectly, provide an excuse for them to divorce without feeling guilty about it. When that didn't happen, they lasted an hour before asking for separate sleeping quarters.

regent name and partner name have gained the Divorced status.

This also returns both the regent and partner to the retinue as the status prevents either from being a regent or marrying another hero.
